PowerISO Tutorials-3: How To Compress ISO Images

Do you know about how to compress ISO images using PowerISO v5.9? The compression of ISO image files means reducing the file size of the images by some percent as compared to original one. We can easily compress data like videos, musics, photos etc using the File compression softwares such as 7Zip, WinZip, WinRAR etc. Bt in case of ISO images, you can't use the file compression softwares. You need an ISO image compression software. Here is one of the example using PowerISO software, which is one of the best ISO file handler and contains multifunction such as Mount images, ISO image creation, CD/DVD burning, Bootable USB or Bootable CD/DVD maker, USB Image Maker etc.

Let's see how to compress ISO image in our PowerISO tutorial series.

Step-1

First, You must open PowerISO software from your Desktop/start menu by double clicking on them. If you don't have it, Download PowerISO Setup. After opening, the user-interface look like the image as shown below. Credits: Tecappvault

Step-2

Then, go to menu bar located just below the main header of powerISO user-interface and click on the "Tools". From the drag and drop menu select the "Compress" option , which present at the 13th position of drop menu. Click on it like the image shown below.

Then dialogue box will appear which is look like image below. The dialogue box contains two parts "Source file" and "Destination file". Source File: Source file means the original ISO image as you want to reduce the size. Select your original ISO file. Destination File: It means the you need to show where to save size reduced ISO image file in your computer or Laptop. Just enter a name under "file name" section and select format *.daa or all files, whatever you need at the end.
Select Source --> Set destination --> Advanced Properties
If you need better ISO image compression, "Advanced Properties" are much recommended. It will show in the Step-4.

Step-4

Advanced Properties look like this. Under advanced properties, you need to select "compression method", is important for advanced ISO compression. By default it will set as "Normal". You also have available compression methods are "Better" and "Best (Slowest)". You can either select the better or best option. If you select the it will slightly reduce and improved compression results by selecting the "Best" option. But the image compression will slowest as compared with Normal or Better compression methods.

Additional Features

You can apply additional features such as password protection and splitting files to your new compressed ISO images from the same interface. If you need to protect ISO by using password tick the "Password protection" and enter password before clicking OK button. Split to Multiple volumes will be very helpful, if you want to compress bigger files greater than 10 GB. It will very helpful to split into equal volumes according to our need.
Note:- If you need to compress ISO images only, no need to apply the additional features listed above.

PowerISO Tutorial-2: Create ISO Image File

We know that most of the big size files of pc games, software’s etc are come with ISO image format. You can also create ISO image files using PowerISO software, does not matters your file either bigger or smaller. ISO image helps to keeps many files under one image file makes it easier to handle and prevents data loss or errors while copying it. PowerISO also support other image formats such as DAA, BIN, CUE etc. This article shows PowerISO tutorial about howto create ISO image file. PowerISO Tutorial About USB Image Creation Let us see the step-by-step guide for creating ISO image files.

Step-1

First, install PowerISO virtual manager software on your computer. If you don’t have the setup, Download PowerISO now. Open The PowerISO interface by double clicking on the desktop icon.

Step-2

From the user- interface click on “ADD” button and dialogue box will appear is shown in the below image. From that, select the files, as you want to make ISO image file and click on “add”. You can also drag your files into PowerISO for adding process. It will look like below image (just an example).

Step-3

From the menu bar, click on “File” menu and drag box will appear and select the “Image Properties” option as shown in the image below.

Step-4

Then an image properties dialogue box will appear. From that window, select “General” tab. Here you can set properties like ISO filename, CD/DVD File System and other miscellaneous options as shown the figure.

Step-5

Select the “Advanced” tab on that window and choose the “compression Method” you want in your ISO image file creation. It will contain Options like “Normal”, “Better” and “Best”. Normal means, default compression of your upcoming ISO image file. Better means small to medium level compression and best means high compression like 7Zip file compressor. The nice option is “Better”. Here you can encrypt your ISO image file with high security password and splitting of your files into multiple files is available. Note: If your file is too big NOT choose “Best” option, because it will take more time for ISO image creation.

Step-6

In the “Date/Time” tab, you can set the date and time of ISO creation as shown in the below figure and click “OK”.

Step-7

Again, click on “File” menu and select “Save As” as shown below in the figure.

Step-8

From the appearing dialogue box, select the “save as type” as “Standard ISO images (*.iso)” is shown below.

Step-9

Click on the “Save” button, then your ISO image file starts to create. The length of process depends on the file size, computer processor speed and RAM. This way you can simply create ISO image file using PowerISO virtual image manager software.

You can also create other image formats like DAA (Direct Access Archive), BIN/CUE etc in the Step-8. For that just select, the “Save as type” as you need as the output file and click “save”. PowerISO Tutorials: How To Make USB Image Files

We all know that PowerISO is one of the best virtual device manager plus image maker, bootable CD/DVD or USB creator and best CD or DVD burning software. It is developed by powerISO software Ltd and works perfectly on around all Windows operating systems. But most of them doesn't know about howto do or use PowerISO effectively and useful manner. This post is first version of step by step PowerISO Tutorials with images which shares howto make USB image file using PowerISO version 6. Let's starts to make USB image files using PowerISO virtual manager software.

Step by Steps 

1. First connect your pendrive to PC via USB, as you need to make the image file. Open the PowerISO software by double clicking the icon on your desktop. If you don't have this, click the above link to download it and install it using the downloaded powerISO setup. The below image shows the opened window or user-interface of PowerISO.

2. From the PowerISO menu bar, click on the "Tools" option shown below. From menu bar >> Tools

3. From the Tools drop down menu, select "Make USB Drive Image File".

4. Then another dialogue box is open and it is look like below image. From their select the"source drive". This option is to select the input pen drive as you want to make the image copy.

5. Then set the "Destination File", as you want to save the USB image on your PC harddisk. here just show the storage space in your PC. In this tutorial we save it into the "My Documents" section.

6. Name your image file using your keyboard and click save. By default the name is "image.img".


7. Then click "OK". then PowerISO starts to make USB image file from your pendrive.

Note: It will take several time to complete process. It depends on your amount of data in your pendrive, USB drive speed and computers physical memory.
