We all know about the Mozilla Firefox internet browser, which is one of the best internet browser is terms of speed and security. The simple Firefox User-interface makes it more easy to surf through the world wide web (internet). However, still most of the people did not know how to do things with this web browser. This firefox tutorial is mainly for beginners and intermediate users of internet. If you know how to do things with Firefox, just get out here and it will worth you. Checklist Needed for Tutorial

Mozilla Firefox Tutorial Part-1: How to Install Mozilla Firefox on PC

If you want to know about the how to things works with Firefox browser, first you need to install it on your computer. If you don’t have it, click here to Free Download Mozilla Firefox, (sized around 39 MB). To open the installation file (setup.exe), double click on the downloaded file. From the dialogue box, click on the “next” button, then read the terms and conditions and click next, select the languages and select the directory, as you want to install Firefox browser on your harddrive. The installation will completed within 20 seconds and your new internet browser is ready to launch.

Mozilla Firefox Tutorial Part-2: How to use Firefox for Internet Browsing

After installation, you find the Firefox icon on your pc desktop or installed directory. Double click or click the right button of your mouse and select the “open”. Then, it will start and opened browser startup page look like the below image.

The startup window opened with a new tab. Here you can start surfing through the internet using the URL of web page or search engines. Below the tab page you can find the “URL Box”, marked red in color and next left of it also find the “Search box” which is marked with yellow color.

In the “URL box” you can enter website url on it and click on the “->” button or enter on your keyboard. It will direct to the website, as you needed, if you have proper network connection. If your internet connection failed, browser shows like below image; message marked in Red box.

Then you need to check your internet connection and make it in proper way. Then you just need to select the URL in URL box and press “enter” or click on “Reload” button (Yellow box) in the above image. If you don’t know the exact URL of a website, don’t worry and just enter the two to three spelling or words of the domain, the firefox suggestion feature suggest the URL matches with your words. This feature helps me a lot to find many websites when I confused in .COM or .ORG domain. In “search box” you can enter the search phase as you want to search. You can also select the search engines in left side download arrow of search box (green box) in above image.

Mozilla Firefox Tutorial Part-3: How to Enable Private Browsing

The private browsing is one of the main security feature of Firefox browser. The private browsing provides complete freedom and protection to your personal information’s and browsed data. When you exit the private browser, the browsed history, cookies, temporary files and cache will delete automatically. However, your downloaded files and bookmarks will not deleted on exit.

From the home page, you can click on the “sidebar” button (red box) in above image. From the sidebar, click the “New Private Window” Button (yellow box). Then new private window opened and enabled the private browsing. The private browsing window image is shown as below.

All the Windows/Mac applications have settings page. Most of the people doesn’t care about the settings of the applications page. But it is very important to setup the settings page for making your software more user-friendly and enable wanted features of that application. These are same in the case of Mozilla Firefox browser case.

The settings is known as “Options” and you can access it from the sidebar or menu bar. Click on “Alt” button your keyboard and “menu bar” will shown just below the titlebar. Select the “Tools” menu and select the “Options”. Then a dialogue box will appear with 9-subsection such as General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy, Security, Sync and Advanced, which is shown in the image below.

Mozilla Firefox Tutorial Part-4: How to Setup General Settings

General options enables to setup the startup window and downloads storage. The startup section, you can set the default browser as Mozilla Firefox by clicking “Make Default” (black box). If you tick on the “Always check if firefox is your default browser”, helps to keep your default browser ass firefox, but it is an annoying feature, recommended to “UnTick” (green box). In “when firefox starts” section you select the which page is shown on the startup window. There options are available. They are “Show my Home page”, “Show a Blank page” and “Show my windows and tabs opened lasttime”.

Show my Home page: - In orange box marked on the above image, you can enter the favorite website URL or search engine URL here. When you open new windows, automatically loads your favorite site.

Show a Blank page:- It shows a blank page when opening new tab or new window.

Show my windows and tabs opened lasttime:- It will open the last visited tabs/windows when you open new tab or window. In the “Downloads” section you set the storage place of downlaoed files by clicking on the “browse” button (red box). If you want to change the download files location on each file downloading select “Always ask me to where to save files”. If you done with General setting click on the “OK” button.

Open New Windows in a New tab Instead:- Tick this option, which enables to open newtab when you open new window.

Warn me When Closing Multiple Tabs:- It is also very helpful option, which prevents the accidental closure of multiple tabs while on your work.

Don’t Load Tabs until Selected:- This is very useful tool, which provide complete control over loading of opened tabs. It helps to allocate data speed of your internet connection

Show tab Previews in Windows Taskbar:- If you want to see the opened tabs previews in your taskbar, tick this option.

Mozilla Firefox Tutorial Part-6: How to Setup Search Settings

You can select the default search engine from the menu, in which available options are Google, Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo etc. You can select the favorite search engine here. If you tick the “Provide search suggestions”, helps to find websites or search phrases with ease. You can also add additional search engines if you have favorite one other than listed.

Block pop-up windows:- Tick this option to prevent pop-up ads, which is annoys your browsing and may affect your data security. If you want to allow some websites for pop-ups, add the exact URLs in the Exceptions section (Green box). Next is Fonts and color section, in which default font used is “Times New Roman” and having font size 16. The advanced fonts (orange box) and color settings (yellow box) are available which is shown in the figure below.

This is one of the important section and you must tick on the “Tell sites that I do not want to be tracked” if you want to block others track your IP address and location. History settings provide three options such as “Remember history”, “Never remember history” and “Use custom settings”. The custom settings help to control over the history, cookies, search and form history.

Warn me when sites try to install add-ons:- If you tick this option, you always get warning when malicious site try to install add-ons on your browser. If you want to add exceptions, click on Exceptions button (red box). Also, tick “block reported attack sites” and “web forgeries” options. If you want more protections from Virus, malware and malicious attacks, try Avast Antivirus or Kaspersky Internet Security. Here you can also set the password remembering option and have mini password manger is contained in the Firefox. Detailed password manager tutorial coming soon.
Other Subsections
Sync:- You can create an account on Firefox online and save your bookmarks, password etc in it. It also helps to access any bookmarks or password from anywhere.

Advanced:- It contains some accessibility and browsing comfort options like scrolling, check spelling etc. It also contains the feedback system to improve the browser abilities for new versions. Network option helps to setup how Firefox connect to internet and control over the cache content. Update option provide new updates and security improvements for ultimate protection and crash protection of Firefox app. All we seen above are some important parts of settings or options page tutorial of Mozilla Firefox browser.
